“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

PSALM 92:12–14
“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing.” Psalm 92:12–14 NKJV
GALATIANS 5:22–23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22–23 NKJV
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to September, the ninth month of the year. Throughout Scripture, the number 9 is the number associated with divine completeness, finality, and divine fruitfulness. It marks the moment when God brings a matter to its ordained conclusion and reveals the fullness of His purpose.
God did not create us merely to exist. From the beginning, He blessed humanity and said, “Be fruitful and multiply.” Fruitfulness is therefore part of God’s purpose for His creation.
I decree and declare over you reading this article, that every unfavourable issue in your life shall come to an end in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and you shall fulfil God’s purpose for your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Divine fruitfulness is different from ordinary human achievement. It is not simply the result of ambition, talent, education, connections or human effort. Divine fruitfulness is the visible expression of God’s life working through a person who remains connected to Him.
Fruitfulness is not manufactured by human strength. It is produced through divine connection.
Jesus gives us the clearest picture of this in John 15. He describes Himself as the true vine, His Father as the vinedresser and us as the branches. The branch does not struggle to manufacture fruit. It remains connected to the vine, and fruit develops as a consequence of that connection.
This reveals an important principle:
Fruitfulness is the outward expression of an inward relationship with God.
God has established spiritual principles that govern fruitfulness. These principles help us understand why some people flourish while others remain spiritually barren, why some seasons appear hidden, and why God sometimes develops us privately before allowing others to see the fruit publicly.
1. FRUITFULNESS BEGINS IN THE INVISIBLE BEFORE IT APPEARS IN THE VISIBLE
Every visible fruit has an invisible root.
Jesus teaches in John 15 that fruitfulness begins with abiding. Abiding is largely invisible. It takes place in the secret place, in prayer, in obedience, in meditation on God’s Word, in surrender and in daily fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
Before people see fruit, God develops roots.
The world often celebrates what is visible. It sees the platform, the promotion, the business, the ministry, the achievement and the influence. God, however, looks deeper. He is concerned with the condition of the heart that produces those visible results.
The world sees fruit. God sees roots.
The world sees results. God sees relationship.
The world sees outcomes. God sees obedience.
The world sees the platform. God sees the preparation.
This is why someone can appear ordinary outwardly while God is developing extraordinary things within them.
Divine fruitfulness begins where human applause cannot reach.
One of the clearest illustrations of this principle can be seen in the growth of bamboo. Certain bamboo varieties spend years developing an extensive root system beneath the ground before significant growth becomes visible above the surface.
To someone looking only at the surface, it may appear that nothing is happening. The ground looks unchanged. There appears to be little evidence of progress.
Yet beneath the surface, roots are developing, strengthening and preparing the plant for what is coming.
This provides a helpful picture of spiritual development.
There are seasons when God is doing deep work in us that nobody else can see. He may be developing our character, strengthening our faith, teaching us patience, correcting our motives, deepening our prayer life and increasing our capacity to carry what He intends to place in our hands.
What appears to be delay may actually be preparation.
What appears to be silence may actually be development.
What appears to be hiddenness may actually be rooting.
LESSONS FROM THE ROOT
- God often works deeply before He works visibly.
- God develops character before expanding influence.
- God establishes roots before revealing fruit.
- Hidden seasons can prepare us for visible seasons.
- Abiding produces spiritual abundance.
Psalm 92:12-14 gives us another powerful picture. The righteous flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon because they are planted in the house of the Lord.
Notice the progression: planted, rooted, flourishing, bearing fruit.
- The planting happens before the flourishing.
- The roots develop before the fruit appears.
- The hidden work comes before the visible expression.
This is one of the mysteries of divine fruitfulness: God will prepare you in secret before He makes your fruit visible in public.
Therefore, do not despise seasons when little appears to be happening. Continue abiding. Continue praying. Continue studying the Word. Continue obeying the Holy Spirit. Continue developing your character.
A tree does not become fruitful by staring at its fruit. It becomes fruitful by remaining rooted.
In the same way, our greatest responsibility is not to manufacture fruit but to remain connected to Christ.
Jesus said, “For without Me you can do nothing.”
Dear friend, there is no need to compete with other believers who may be in their season of manifestation. Remember, the branch does not need to compete with other branches. It simply needs to remain connected to the vine.
When the connection is healthy, the life of the vine flows into the branch, and eventually the fruit becomes visible.
That is the mystery of divine fruitfulness.
Remember this fact; “What God develops in you privately will eventually influence what He produces through you publicly.”
