Text: Matthew 7:24-27 (NKJV)
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
The parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders offers valuable lessons for children (Matthew 7:24-27):
- Foundation Matters: Just as a house needs a solid foundation, our lives need a strong base. Jesus (the rock) is the only reliable foundation. Trusting in Him and following His teachings ensures stability and resilience.
- Obedience to God’s Word: The wise builder listens to God’s word and obeys it. Children can learn that living out God’s principles leads to wisdom and strength.
- Avoid Worldly Foundations: The foolish builder relied on sand (worldly desires). Children can understand that building their lives on opinions, traditions, or worldly preferences is unstable and ever-changing.
- Jesus’ Teachings: Jesus’ words are like the rock. When we build our lives on His teachings, we stand firm even during life’s storms.
Remember, a life grounded in obedience to Jesus as Lord and Saviour brings earthly blessings and more importantly eternal significance.
