Psalm 68:5-6; “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.” ESV

Dear reader, today I want to encourage any single parent reading today’s article. Being a single parent in the 21st century comes with unique challenges and trials, but I want to remind you that you are not alone. God sees your struggles and He is with you every step of the way. Let us learn to always turn to His Word for encouragement and strength. In Psalm 68:5-6, we are reminded that God is the Father of the fatherless and the protector of widows. He cares deeply for those who find themselves in vulnerable situations, including single parents. God promises to settle the solitary in a home, providing for their needs and leading them to prosperity. As a single parent, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and alone. But I want to encourage you today to take comfort in the fact that God is your Heavenly Father, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. He sees your sacrifices and your struggles, and He is always ready to provide you with the strength and support you need. Here are some biblical principles for single parents to engage with:

  1. Trust in God’s Provision: Just as God provided for the Israelites in the wilderness, He will provide for you and your children. Trust in His faithfulness and lean on Him for your every need (Philippians 4:19).
  2. Seek God’s Wisdom: As a single parent, you may face many decisions on your own. Turn to God’s Word for guidance and wisdom in every situation (James 1:5).
  3. Lean on Your Church Family: You are not meant to walk this journey alone. Lean on your church family for support, encouragement, and prayer (Galatians 6:2).
  4. Give yourself to a life-style of prayer: Philippians 4:6 (NIV): “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Remember, prayer is a powerful way to connect with God and seek His guidance, comfort, and strength as you navigate through life.
  5. Prioritize Your Relationship with God: Amidst the busyness of parenting, make time to nurture your relationship with God through prayer, worship, and studying His Word (Psalm 119:105)

Finally, single parents, remember that you are loved and valued by God. He sees your sacrifices and He is working all things together for your good. Lean on Him for strength, wisdom, and comfort, and trust that He will never fail you. May you find hope and encouragement in His unfailing love. Remember, God Almighty is interested in the single parent and He loves you so much. You are never alone, you are not a slave to fear, you are a child of God Almighty. He is with you all the time; even in those moments when you dont feel it.
