It is God’s will that you live in financial abundance. This is one area the enemy is fiercely attacking the Church, because he knows that if we are empowered financially, we will take the world for Christ, as finances is needed to take the message of the gospel to the world. It deeply pains my heart to see many believers suffering because of insufficiency in resources and My Comforter says to me “This is not My will for My children, I want them to have complete sufficiency in all things including the area of financial resources.”
“And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity”. 2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMP)
The Holy-Spirit strongly impresses it in my heart to share with you a message by Bishop Oyedepo that greatly blessed me and even though it is not the complete message, you will receive enough spiritual wisdom that you can still employ to break the evil yoke of resource scarcity in your life. Remember that adherence to God’s spiritual laws that govern riches and wealth is the foundation of understanding how money works.
Job 22:22 KJV: “Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.”
The law that forms the anchor of the Covenant is the law of giving and receiving. Then you lay up His words in your heart means you do it according to scriptural guidelines.
So what does it mean (what are the scriptural guidelines)?
Your giving must be done willingly, otherwise it will not be acceptable to God.
(2 Corinthian 8:12, For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.) NKJV
Anything you are forced to give is not acceptable in the good-ground of God’s kingdom, so that seed/giving is lost. If the ground does not receive your seed, then don’t expect any harvest. Never give to God under duress but give with delight because your seed will be lost (no harvest) if it is not done willingly. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:17; “For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship”. NKJV. But if I give against my will, then “I will not receive a reward”. Moses said if anyone is of a willing heart let him bring an offering to the Lord, and the bible says and they came (Exodus 35:4-5 & 20-22). Vs 22; whoever has a willing mind, let him bring an offering, and they came. They kept coming until the leadership, said “it was enough”. They kept coming and coming because they were being blessed and blessed. They were doing it willingly, they got rewarded lavishly.
When giving to the poor, do it willingly, because you are not the solution to the poor man’s life. God can use somebody else if you are not there or refuse to do it. God gives you that privilege to give to the poor so that you wont lack in your life. He that giveth to the poor shall not lack, Proverbs 28 and 27. The more willingly we do it, the more lavishly we are rewarded.
- Give cheerfully
Give with excitement. Give with a smile on your face. Anytime you are not cheerful. Don’t drop your offering in church, it brings no reward. Why? When joy withers from the heart of men, their harvest perishes. Joel 1:11-12, all the harvest of the field is perished because joy is withered away from the hearts of men (There is deep prophetic insight attached to these verse). Give cheerfully and that makes your giving work (receive a harvest/reward)
- Give in love.
Solomon loved the Lord and went to Gibeon to sacrifice there and offered a 1000 burnt offering upon the altar (1 Kings 3, 3-14). This giving by Solomon was motivated out of love for God. Give in love for God and you can be sure of returns (harvest/reward).
In 1 Corinthians 13:3, “And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” NKJV. Paul teaches us our act of giving will profit us nothing when not done in love
- Do it sacrificially
Don’t give God “tips” (spare change you give to a waiter for good service!). don’t give God left-overs. Bible says honour the Lord with your substance (not left-overs!) and so shall your barns be filled with plenty. In the natural (agricultural science), the quality of your seed will determine the quality of the harvest. That is why farmers go for hybrid-seeds today for accelerated growth and returns.
Malachi 1:6-9; God says if I be Your Father, where is my honour and if I be Your Master where is My reverence, you have the fatted calf among your flocks but you brought to Me, the lame, and the blind. Try giving such to your governors if they would accept it! So, God does not take nonsense, He takes substance. Substance is not in terms of volume. Its in terms of quality. When you give God something out of your substance that is sacrificial, it is a seed. But God has helped you to be earning good money, then you give God £1.00 as offering! That is not a “seed” you have given, it is “trash” you have given in the eyes of Heaven! In the bible (Mark 12: 41-44), the widow dropped a mite and Jesus said, she gave the greatest, why? That was all her living. So giving that is accepted by heaven is not defined in terms of volume. So if a rich man beats his chest and shouts “I gave £1 million” but God see’s that as nothing because in comparison to the £1 billion, he has in assets, he has given nothing before God. Bible reminds us “As God has blessed everyone, so let him give”. Give God substance, not leftover.
- Give God tirelessly
Bible says you shall reap in due season if you fail not. Galatians 6:9. Remember this, until your cloud is full, your rain will not fall. Ecclesiastes 11:1-3; If the clouds are full of rain, They empty themselves upon the earth(vs3a).
That same Eccles 3:1 also says cast you bread on many waters, after many days (it has no date/it does not tell you the time and hour it will happen), it will come back again. Some people have done it for 28 days and it remains 2 more days to complete it but because they see nothing happening, they stop it! And they come back to do it again but yet they stop at day 27! And because they are not consistent in their covenant work, they cannot experience the manifestation of His blessings. You must be consistent in your covenant work with God if you will see the manifestation of His blessings (and power). These are principles that also guide your giving life.
Abraham became symbol of blessings for all generation. How did he become this symbol?
Isaiah 51:2-3; 2 Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.”3 For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. (NKJV)
God said look up to Abraham, which means understudy his steps if you want this kind of blessing, walk in those steps and I will pour out the same order of blessings on your life. Abraham was blessed no doubt but how did he sustain the blessing generationally? Gen 14:20; “And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all” NKJV.Abraham gave a tithe of all.
Also the second thing we notice is that when the king of Sodom wanted to give him something for the captives, he said, I will not least you say that you made Abraham rich (Gen 14:23). Abraham was covenant conscious, He told the King of Sodom that “he had raised his hands to God and made an oath to God” (vs 22a, AMP) suggesting that he was aware of the covenant he had with God and not going to derail from it, lest you King of Sodom say you made Abraham rich. From vs 23 you can see that, Abraham was very sure that the covenant in which he was operating under guarantees “supernatural” blessings.
My summary on the two things to take up from this narrative in relation to sustaining generational blessings
- Giving God your tithe is important: Think of your tithe as “spiritual insurance”
- Coming into complete consciousness and understanding of the covenant you have with God through Christ Jesus that commands supernatural blessings in your life
I will strongly encourage you to study Job 22:21-29 for yourself and let God open your eyes to more mysteries linked to financial blessings by the Hand of God. God bless you.
The first step to enjoying complete sufficiency in all things is giving your life to Christ Jesus. Once you are spiritually sufficient in Christ Jesus, everything else will fall into place by His power.
Altar call: For anyone reading this article who is not saved and wants to be part of the family of God or you want to re-dedicate your life back to Jesus, please repeat this out loud. “Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I have sinned against you. Lord Jesus forgive me of my sins. I repent of my sins. Lord Jesus come into my life and be my Lord now and forever in Jesus Name“
Prayer: O God arise and break the evil yoke of resource scarcity in my life and family, in Jesus Name.
