Please check out Part-1 of this article (Wonders of Holiness (Part-1) – Feast of light)

What are more wonders of holiness that we as believers can take advantage of in our walk with God.?

Holiness helps You Overcome Sin.

As believers, God’s holiness is in your life is imputed through Our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 4:22-25). Consequently, you will find it easier to overcome sin and the evil desires of the flesh due to the Holy Spirit indwelling in you and the new nature of Christ in you.

For it is the Holy-Spirit in you, which you receive after becoming truly born again, that enables you to hate and overcome sin. The Holy-Spirit is the One that help us in our weakness. (Romans 8:26a). This is Because for now till the “resurrection of the saints” where we will now take on an eternal nature that is free of sin, we still have the sinful nature in us, we must therefore completely depend on the leading and help of the Holy-Spirit to overcome sin and our weaknesses. One way is to consciously choose to walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfil the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

Like everything you learn new in life, like learning to ride a bike, the more you learn and practice it you become good at it. In a similar way the more you learn to yield to the Holy-Spirit the more you become better at not responding to the desires of your sinful flesh and with more mastery of spiritual things in His Kingdom, a time will come where you will be dead to the strong desires of your flesh to sin or act in error. Like, Paul dying daily to the flesh (1 Corinthians 15:31b) will be something you do continually to live in daily holiness unto God

Holiness is linked to divine Health.

Divine health is one of the benefits of living a holy life that pleases and glorifies God. Let’s consider a powerful promise by God Himself in the bible regarding this.

Exodus 23:25; “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

There is a direct link between serving God and God keeping you in divine health as seen above. So, how do we serve God?

Serving God or loving God in simple terms means obeying His commands and His commands are not burdensome (1 John 5:3). Therefore God promises that if you embrace in a life of holiness which is living a life of daily obedience to His word and will, He will keep sickness away from you.

    Holiness builds peace

Isaiah 48:18; If you had obeyed me, then peace would have come to you like a full flowing river. Good things would have come to you again and again, like the waves of the sea. (ERV)

There is a link between obeying God and conforming to His will and overflowing peace in your life

If as a believer you are living a life of godliness and righteousness, your life will also be filled with the peace from God Almighty that surpasses all human understanding (Philippians 4:7).

And it’s this peace that only God through His Son, Jesus Christ can give that will truly satisfy your soul and make you calm and peaceful in all situations. It’s also the kind of peace that will make you be at peace with God.

Practicing true holiness unto God prevents divorce in marriage

Marriage is first institution that was formed by God and it was and is still instrumental in God’s plan for redeeming man. No wonder the enemy (the devil) fights marriage with everything he has. Latest figures for UK divorce rate 2023 shows that divorce rate in the United Kingdom is estimated at 42% (Data from cybercrew.uk/blog/divorce-statistics-uk). Also data shows a 9.6% increase in divorce rate from 2020 to 2021 and it has been hypothesized that the divorce rate will surge by more than 50% in 2022

What is the current trend of divorce rates among christians?

In a review of both religious and general population data, researchers concluded that divorce rates among Christians are similar to those of the general population, indicating that marital dissolution is not necessarily due to a particular faith commitment. Factors such as infidelity, communication problems, substance abuse, financial stressors and unresolved prior conflicts were seen to be the leading causes of divorce among Christian couples across the board. (https://www.myhoustondivorce.lawyer/christian-divorce/rates/)

The 2023 divorce rates among Christians is approximately 20 to 25 percent. The percentage is higher among millennials and younger generations of believers. The divorce rates for different types of Christianity are as follows:

    • Evangelical Christians: 26%
    • Non-Evangelical Born Again Christians: 33%
    • Notional Christians: 33%
    • All Born Again Christians: 32%
    • All Non-Born-Again Christians: 33%

As terrible as these statistics are about divorce rates in Christian marriages, there is hope in God for deliverance from marital storms if couples-in-Christ Jesus who are believers simply obey God’s laws on marriage like the ones stated in Ephesians 5:21-33 as a starting point and not operate their marriage on emotions and feelings alone!

Marriage is built on covenant (which involves taking up your responsibility and sacrifice) and not based on feelings or how your spouse makes you feel. Interestingly the statisticians say that Christians who pray, read their bible, take their faith seriously have lower divorce rates than those Christians who rarely attend church!

Meaning that if we practice daily holiness unto God in our marriage which involves first and foremost taking our personal relationship with God seriously as a couple, pray and fast together regularly as a couple, study God’s word together as a couple, having the right mental transformation by His word and Spirit you can deal with any challenges in your marriage.

    God bless you.
