Scripture Reflection

Hebrews 12:1-2; “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” NKJV

As believers, dealing with regrets and planning for a better new year involves understanding God’s sovereignty, His grace, and our role in aligning with His will.

Dear friend, the Bible offers profound wisdom on handling disappointments and setting a path for future success in 2026. We shall consider a few things on what the bible has to say about this matter.

1) Acknowledge and Release Regrets: The first step in dealing with regrets is to acknowledge them and bring them before God. King David often expressed his regrets and failures openly to God. In Psalm 51:1-2, David prays, “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.” This demonstrates the importance of confession and seeking God’s forgiveness and cleansing.

2) Trust in God’s Sovereignty and Timing: Ecclesiastes 3:1 states, “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” Understanding that God’s timing is perfect will help you relinquish the frustration of unmet goals. Even when you don’t understand why certain things didn’t happen in 2025, trusting in God’s timing and sovereignty is essential.

3) Learn from Past Mistakes: The Bible encourages us to learn from our past to make wiser decisions in the future. Proverbs 24:16 says, “For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.” Dear friend, “Failure is not final;” it’s an opportunity to learn and grow in 2026.

4) Set God-Aligned Goals: When planning for the year 2026, seek God’s guidance to set goals aligned with His will. James 4:15 reminds us, “Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.'” Involving God in our goal-setting in 2026 ensures that our plans are in harmony with His purposes and will for our lives.

5) Commit to God and Take Action: Proverbs 16:3 advises, “Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.” This means dedicating our plans and efforts to God in 2026 and trusting Him to guide us. Once goals are set, taking consistent, faith-filled action is crucial. James 2:17 tells us, “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

6) Persevere in Faith: Perseverance through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in the divine destiny and calling God has given you is key to overcoming obstacles and achieving goals (Hebrews 12:1-2).

7) Rely on God’s Strength: Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Relying on God’s strength rather than our own helps us to overcome discouragement and accomplish more than we could on our own.

Dear friend, I join my faith with yours and I pray for you that the year 2026 shall be a year of outstanding and mind-blowing divine results for you and your family in Jesus Name. Amen
