God’s truth does not change
(Isaiah 40:8; The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.)
Whatever God says is intricately linked to His unchanging nature (hence, since God does not change then His words that come from Him will not change).
-Unlike human beings who are always unstable, we say things that we do not really mean, and we take our words back as well. But God is stable, He won’t take back whatever He say
-This is important when you take the example of a man who says he will do something but keeps changing his mind or consistently does not keep to what he said he will do is a man you never trust or rely on. Therefore because God’s truth does not change, you & I can completely trust and rely on His word to fulfil His promises & accomplish His plans.
God’s Word is absolute,
As a believer in Jesus Christ our Lord, you must not allow the enemy or the world system to make you think otherwise. The only way to receive God’s blessings and salvation is to regard God’s word as absolute truth. This is because God pours out blessings only upon those who absolutely obey His word.
Let’s us consider 2 cases where God’s word was taken the absolute truth
Case 1. Noah’s Ark (Gen 6 & 9)
God commanded Noah to build an ark, a wooden ship, on the top of a mountain, even though it had not rained up to that time. In fact, it was unimaginable to build an ark of this size; it was 450 feet (137 meters) long, 75 feet (23 meters) wide, and 45 feet (14 meters) high. In those days, it was almost impossible to build a ship of that magnitude. Of course, with modern-day technology it could be constructed much more easily, using various kinds of quality materials. However, it must have been difficult to build a huge ark in those days because of the great expense and high level of skill needed, which some say is comparable to building a space shuttle these days.
Even under those circumstances, Noah never complained against God and obediently constructed the ark, believing that God would help him. Scientists estimate that it took between 40 and 120 years to build the ark. From this, we can realize how great Noah’s perseverance must have been in order to complete the work. As a result of absolutely obeying God’s word, without adding to or subtracting from it, only Noah and his family were saved while all the other people were destroyed by the flood.
Case 2. The City of Jericho (Joshua 6: 1-27)
When the Israelites arrived in the land of Canaan, the city of Jericho stood dreadfully before them. They could not enter Canaan without conquering the strong, fortified city of Jericho. They were ordered to march around Jericho once a day for six days and seven times on the seventh day—this was God’s strategy for conquering Jericho.
Typically, the way to conquer a fortress would be to plan operations and then execute them: build siege ramps, make ladders, arrows, spears, shields, battering rams, and so on. However, God’s strategy was not based upon common sense, so that only those who believed in God absolutely could carry it out.
On the first day, they marched around the city once, but nothing happened. On the second day, they marched around the city in the same manner, still nothing happened. On the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth days, they did the same thing and still nothing happened. Those who did not have absolute faith must have been quite anxious; most people might have fallen into the trap of thinking, ‘Wouldn’t it be better to sharpen our swords, make spears, and build battering rams to break down the gates?’
On the seventh day when they marched around the city seven times, they might have fallen into deep despair, thinking, ‘Will it really collapse?’ or, ‘We will collapse from exhaustion before the walls do.’ However, God showed the Israelites who obeyed His word absolutely what obeying His word can do. When they all shouted loudly toward the city of Jericho, the walls collapsed in an instant. Thus, they were able to conquer the city of Jericho, paving the way for their inheritance of Canaan, the land of promise.
-Through the history of those who received blessings by absolutely obeying God, we can see that we too will receive blessings in this age after obeying God absolutely. God always leads us to the righteous path for our own benefit. Let us receive abundant blessings from God by making every effort to follow His word with all our heart and mind.
-As God’s word is the absolute truth, therefore what God’s word defines as right or wrong always is, has been, and will be. This is why we must always – ‘Let God be true,’ (but every man a liar – see Romans 3:4a).
God’s Truth is Universal
The concept of universal means something that occurs everywhere, it denotes something that continues from eternity. It also denotes something that cuts across all geographical, cultural, and sociological facets of life. It applies at the physical, spiritual & mental level and that is what makes it universal.
We have mentioned God’s word is universal because it applies at the physical, spiritual, and mental level, but how about the supernatural level?
The supernatural level (or better put the heavenly realms) is God’s domain, Deuteronomy 10:14 Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God, also the earth with all that is in it.
-Therefore even at the heavenly realms God’s truth applies.
-In fact God’s word mediates the supernatural (that is why Psalm 138:2b; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.). That means if you understand and know how to employ the power of God’s truth, there is absolutely nothing you cannot access from God’s supernatural domain.
-If you understand the deep mysteries of God’s word, there is nothing you cannot access even at the heavenly realm. Men like “Elijah” understood the mysteries of God’s word that is why he could call for fire from heaven upon two sets of captains and their 50 men who tried to harass him. Another man that understood how to employ God’s word to access the heavenly realm was “Joshua”, he commanded the sun & moon to stand still until he had finished dealing with the enemies of Israel.
-Brothers & Sisters, There are levels of mysteries of God’s word (Truth) that you get to, that the kind of results you command by the help of the Holy-Spirit is truly divine.
Another reasons that God’s word is universal is that it is timeless and also fixed forever. Psalm 119:89: Lord, your word is forever; it is firmly fixed in heaven (CSB)
There was a time in my very young age where video cassette players was the in thing to watch movies but now it is no longer universal or relevant because technology over time has come up with the ability to download movies now and save space in the house that would have been occupied by stacks of video cassettes. One of the reasons that cassettes cannot be regarded as universal is because it does not fulfil the criteria of the ability to be timeless and relevant forever. In fact if something is timeless then that thing will always have on-going relevance.
The third reason why God’s Truth will always be universal is because God will always have His way. Read Psalm 2. No matter how the heathens rage, He that sit in the heaven laughs. He mocks at their feeble plans, because God does not joke with His words, it must manifest. (see Jeremiah 1:12; Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.) AMPC.
The fourth reason that God’s truth is universal is because, it will always come to pass; 1 Kings 8: 56 (“Thanks be to the Lord. He has given rest to His people Israel. He has done all that He promised. Every word has come true of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses)
-Think about it, the reason why the law of gravity is universal is because no matter your geographical region, it must come to pass. Take for example if I take an apple in England and throw it up in the air, by the law of gravity it must fall to the ground. If I now take than same apple and travel to Nigeria, when I get into the land of Nigeria, I throw that same apple up, even in Nigeria, it must come down because the law of gravity is universal and so it comes to pass.
-But if that apple I brought to Nigeria and I throw it up, remains suspended in the air, then you can say the law of gravity has failed and it ceases to be universal but local because it only applies to England. It only comes to pass in England.
-But God’s word never fails, it always comes to pass. You may say Pastor James, but I have been holding on to God’s word, nothing has happened. But I say to you the issue is not God’s word but you.
-You see as humans the only way the law of gravity will be ineffective is, if we live the earth and travel to outer space. Meaning there are certain conditions and processes that allow for the law of gravity to operate only on earth.
-In the same way there are certain conditions and kingdom principles that govern the infallible nature of God’s word and so failure to correctly apply those principles would make it seem like God’s word has failed in your life.
5th reason; Gods truth is universal because it is victorious (nothing can overcome it!) (Rev 19:11-15)
John eyes were open in the spirit and he saw the Spirit of Jesus as the word of God in warrior mode. And from the Word of God, he saw fire in His eyes and from the mouth of the word of God, came out a sword and the Word of God also has the armies of heaven backing him up as they make war against nations and subdued them.
-This clearly denotes that God’s word is a powerful spiritual warfare weapon against the wiles of the enemy but even more significantly that God’s word is invincible, victorious & there is no opposition or force that can overcome the Word of God.
-If a thing is timeless but cannot overcome opposition, it will become a monument, a figure-head, a historical artifact.
I remember in my teenage years blockbuster was the go-to store to get movies. They were everywhere. In fact they controlled the film market globally for many years until am told Netflix came (who were not charging rental fees & saw the vision of downloading movies and films via the internet and as a consequence seriously damaged blockbuster until they became bankrupt in 2010, and closed all their stores globally and the one store they left, I am informed they rent it to AirBnB (for people to stay when they travel on holiday). That one store has become a historical monument to remind us they were once in existence because they could not overcome the opposition and hence ceased to be universal.
-Therefore one of the reasons that God’s truth is universal is that it is victorious and always victorious no matter the opposition
The reason you and I can hold on to the truth of God’s word, is that not only is timeless (the same, yesterday, today & forever) but it has the power to overcome any opposition, force or power that comes our way if we hold on to it and use it as our shield of faith
In conclusion, We are mandated by Jesus to live by God’s truth (Matthew 4:4; But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.)
if you truly believe that Jesus is indeed the Christ – the Way, the Truth, and the Life that leads to God and the very Son of the living God Himself – then you have to believe that God’s word is truth, and that man must, therefore, live by every word of it.
-Many Christians claim they believe in Jesus but when you closely look at their lives, they are not living a life that reflects Jesus (2 Cor 3:2; You are our epistle written in our hearts, known, and read by all men)
-Now the world is constantly reading our lives as believers to see if it truly matches to what you profess and this may be one reason apart from the devil blinding them not to believe the gospel.
-When they see a believer just punch his wife and then the person now tells them about God. They just won’t accept that message (I remember the story that my spiritual father-in-the Lord Pastor EA Adeboye said about a man who felt he needed to go to church only to see the fellow who was night-clubbing the night before standing as an usher in the church, the man Shaked his head in disbelief and returned home). Your life must match the Truth of God’s word you profess.
