Many believers say “I am in Jesus” but don’t even know what that profound statement really means. In Scripture, being “in Him” (usually referring to Jesus) has significance for various dimensions of our walk with God and our union with Him. Let us consider some verses in scripture that sheds some light on this.
In Him, we have everything we need
- 1 Corinthians 1:5; that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge. (NJKV).
In Him, you have been enriched in all things. In Him you have been blessed in all things, in Him you have been blessed in every way.
That is the reality we have as believers in Christ, that we have been blessed in all things. Marital, financial, ministry-wise, career, health. That there should be no area of our lives as believers where we should not be blessed. We need to spend time in prayer, and seek God to let the reality of this dimension in Him, manifest in our physical realm in Jesus Name.
2. He now adds in all utterance and knowledge. Also implying that He has also blessed us with all that we need to succeed in our walk with God and the ministry. He has also blessed us with divine knowledge (supernatural insight) that we need to succeed in all spheres of life
3 in terms of the ministry office you operate in; He has blessed you with all utterance and knowledge to succeed in your walk with God and in the spiritual office He has given you whether as a Pastor, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, Apostle.
- In Him, all promises of God for our life are already fulfilled
2nd Corinthians 1:20; For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. (NLT)
All the promises of God in Christ for you as a believer are fulfilled or answered, “Yes”.
They are not being fulfilled or being answered, meaning they are still being worked on by God. But the promises are already existing. The promise has already been established, settled.
And God’s mind is this, “yes you will have them”. So God wants you to possess all your blessings in Christ from Him. It is His divine will for you to possess them.
Our elevation is already answered “yes”
Our deliverance is already answered “yes”
My family ‘s elevation is answered “yes”
My healing is already answered “yes”
My financial breakthrough and liberation is already answered “yes”
- If you are truly in Him, you will obey all His word’s
1 John 2:5, But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. (NKJV)
When we obey the word of God, we show that the love of God is perfected in us. When we obey God, we show we love God completely
And it is this obedience to God that not only shows our love for God but a strong indication that we are in Him, i.e. In complete union with Him, walking in the Spirit. So, perfect obediance to God is walking in the Spirit.
- Those who are in Him practice and live by the fear of the Lord (Holiness)
1 John 3:6, No one who abides in Him [who remains united in fellowship with Him—deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin. No one who habitually sins has seen Him or known Him. (AMP)
Whoever abides in Him does not sin. It means whoever is in union with Him does not continue to sin
It means whoever lives in Him does not continue in the path of sin and wickedness. When you continue in the path of wickedness, you come out of Him. So when you as a child of God who claims to be in Him, continue to sin. It means you don’t really Know Him or understand who He is.
That you are walking in Holiness before God in Christ Jesus is a sign you know God, is a sign you have a personal revelation of who God is. It also means you have divine insight (an understanding of who He is)
Holiness before God is certainly linked to divine knowledge and understanding. You cannot access divine wisdom from God or maintain divine wisdom in your life without holiness (fear of the Lord)
- In him we understand Jesus as being God’s wisdom, we attain righteousness, sanctification and redemption
1 Corinthians 1:30, But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— (NKJV)
1. But of Him you are in Christ: means God has united us with Christ Jesus.
2. The work and eternal sacrifice of Jesus at the cross is God’s wisdom made manifest to humanity.
3. Through Christ we are Righteous: made right before God. Made Holy
4. Through Christ we are Sanctified: we are set apart for God. Set free from sin. But it is up to us to grow in that righteousness (sanctification) day by day through His word. Through daily sanctification by His word, we can overcome the power of sin that still seeks to have us on a daily basis.
5. Through Christ we are Redeemed. That is we have been set free. We are delivered from the penalty of sin (Justification). Through Christ Jesus we are also delivered from all oppression of the enemy. And so our job is to resist the enemy by His word and enforce the victory He has already given us over the enemy.
