Bible Text: Jeremiah 29:13. “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” NKJV
To touch God is to connect with the very source of life. It is more than a moment of emotion or a routine spiritual activity. It is the deep, intentional reach of the heart toward the One who gives strength, wisdom, purpose, and power.
Plugging a Device into Power: Just as a device remains lifeless until it is connected to a power outlet, our spiritual lives remain weak and unfruitful until we are connected to God. The moment a phone is plugged into electricity, energy begins to flow, restoring what was empty. In the same way, when we touch God, His Spirit energises us, renews our strength, restores what was broken, and positions us to bear fruit. His presence and power breaks every bondage holding you down

A Child Reaching for a Parent’s Hand: Imagine a child lost in a crowded place. The moment they reach out and grasp their parent’s hand, fear disappears and peace floods in. In the same way, when we reach out to God in faith, His presence calms our fears and gives us security. His presence and power brings hope to every hopeless situation in our lives
Dear friend, scripture is full of examples of men and women who “touched God” through faith, humility, prayer, and a close walk with Him, and God showed up powerfully in their lives
Examples of Those Who Touched God
Enoch: Enoch is man who walked closely with God.
Genesis 5:24 says, “And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him].” AMPC.
Walking with God positions a believer to live in continual contact with Him. Enoch is a profound example. His consistent intimacy with God marked his entire life.
Hannah (1 Samuel 1:9–20): Through deep prayer and humility, Hannah poured out her soul before the Lord for a child.
God responded to her faith and gave her Samuel, who became a great prophet.
Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46–52): Despite the crowd trying to silence him, Bartimaeus cried out in faith, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
His persistence touched God, and Jesus restored his sight.
King Hezekiah (2 Kings 20:1–6): When told he would die, Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed earnestly.
God heard his prayer, healed him, and added fifteen years to his life.
The Canaanite Woman (Matthew 15:21–28): In humility and persistence, she begged Jesus to heal her daughter, even accepting being likened to a dog under the table.
Her faith touched God, and Jesus declared, “Great is your faith!” and healed her child.
Jacob (Genesis 32:24–30): Jacob wrestled with God all night, refusing to let go until he received a blessing.
God touched him, changed his name to Israel, and blessed him with a new identity.
Jabez touched God through a simple but heartfelt prayer. (1 Chronicles 4:10)
The Manner of Men or Women Who Can Touch God
When people touch God, there is salvation, there is healing, there is restoration, there is deliverance, and transformation always follows.
So what kind of person touches God in a way that draws His response?
1. A person who is broken before God.
Psalms 34:18 says, “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.”
God draws close to the humble. James 4:6; “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
Key-point: Humility is the channel for God’s grace to flow into a man’s life
Brokenness is not weakness; it is surrender. When you come to God without pretence, your heart becomes open for His touch.
2. A person who acknowledges and honours God.
People who touch God make room for Him. First Samuel 2:30 reminds us, “Those who honor Me I will honor.”
Honouring God means giving Him first place in your decisions, schedule, values, and desires.
Honouring is recognising that without Him, nothing stands.
Effect of humouring God: When God is honoured, His presence rests heavily on your life.
Honouring God is no abstract or just a mental idea…although it must start with the mind but it flows from within you and affects your outward daily expressions
Example 1: Decisions and Career Choices: A young professional is offered a lucrative job that requires compromising integrity, perhaps cutting corners or engaging in dishonest practices. Instead of chasing money, they pray, seek God’s Word, and choose a path that honours Him, even if it seems less profitable at first.
Result: God opens unexpected doors, provides peace, and blesses their career with stability and respect.
Lesson: Honouring God in decisions invites His presence into your work, turning what looks like loss into lasting gain.
Example 2: Schedule and Daily Priorities: A busy parent has a packed schedule with work, family, and responsibilities. Yet, they intentionally set aside time each morning to pray and read Scripture before starting the day.
Result: That daily honouring of God brings clarity, strength, and peace that flows into how they handle challenges, relationships, and stress.
Lesson: Honouring God in your schedule allows His presence to guide your steps, making the rest of the day fruitful.
Reflection: Honouring God is not abstract: it shows up in the way we choose integrity over compromise, or prayer over busyness. When He is given first place, His presence rests heavily, bringing peace, direction, and blessing.
3. A person who chooses to live and walk by faith.
The woman with the issue of blood (Luke 8:41-48) touched Jesus by faith, not by physical strength.
Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.”
Faith is what reaches through the crowds, through obstacles, through fear, and says, “If only I may touch Him.”
People who touch God refuse to let circumstances define what God can do.

4. A person with a consistent and fervent prayer altar.
James 5:16 (NKJV) says, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
Remember the four indices of prayer that God responds to; Effectiveness (your request must align to God’s Word and Will), Fervent (must come from your heart/heart-felt), Righteousness (you must be in right positioning or alignment with God) and then Diligence/Consistency in the place of prayer (You don’t quit. You keep praying in faith regardless of your physical circumstances or symptoms until something happens)
Dear friend, Elijah was not superhuman. Scripture emphasises that he was a man like you and I, yet he touched heaven through fervent prayer. His prayers shut the heavens and later opened them.
Key-point: Consistency in prayer builds spiritual sensitivity and creates an atmosphere where God responds.
5. A person who knows how to praise and thank God.
Sometimes heaven feels silent not because God is not listening to your prayers, but because He is calling you to also approach Him with praise and thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30–31 (NKJV) says, “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord.”
Praise touches God in ways that words alone cannot.
Prayer and Praise is a very powerful combination. (e.g., Acts 16:25–26, where Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns, and God moved powerfully)
Key-point: Praise shifts negative atmospheres and moves spiritual barriers.
6. A person who desires to be a blessing to others and is also kingdom-minded.
Matthew 6:33; But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. NKJV
When you are a kingdom seeker, a person that always wants help move God’s kingdom forward here on earth, you become a man or woman that can touch God.
Too many believers are so self-centred, what’s in it for me! They never think of kingdom things, always seeking for their own needs to be satisfied…and there is nothing wrong seeking God for your needs to be satisfied, for our loving Father will always give you good things
Matthew 7:9–11 (NKJV) “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
But those who are kingdom minded and seek to do the will of the Father will get all of the fullness of God…that will include His presence and power…and when a man has His presence and power…no good thing will God withhold from such a man
Those who touch God are men and women who have made up their mind to a blessing to others
In Luke 8:47 the woman publicly testified about her miracle. She became a vessel of encouragement to everyone listening.
Similarly, the four lepers in 2 Kings 7 shared the good news instead of keeping it to themselves.
Key-point: When God lifts you, He intends for others to rise through your testimony. God trusts those who will use His blessings to build others.
These are the qualities of men and women who touch God, people whose hearts, faith, and actions create room for His power to flow.
Altar call: For anyone reading this article who is not saved and wants to be part of the family of God or you want to re-dedicate your life back to Jesus, please repeat this out loud. “Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my old ways and ask You to forgive me. Come into my heart, be my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me live for You. Thank You for saving me, in Jesus Name. Amen“
Prayer:
- O God arise, and make this month, a month to remember full of favour, blessings and breakthroughs, in Jesus Name.
- Father, arise with healing and deliverance in Your Wings, and heal me of every infirmity, deliver me of every satanic oppression, in Jesus Name
- Holy Spirit, please teach me how to become a person that can touch God, in Jesus Mighty Name
