As believers, we are equipped with spiritual weapons to fight against the forces of darkness and to stand firm in our faith. These spiritual weapons are outlined in the Bible, particularly in the New Testament which is the focus of this article. And if you want an exhaustive detail of our weapons of warfare, I will strongly recommend you read the book called “101 Weapons of Spiritual Warfare” by Dr DK Olukoya. Here are some of the key weapons of our warfare from the New Testament perspective:
- The Word of God (The Bible):
Ephesians 6:17: “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” NKJV
-The Word of God is described as the “sword of the Spirit.” It is a powerful offensive weapon that helps us discern truth, resist temptation, and defeat the enemy’s lies.
-God’s word is like hammer that breaks the rock in pieces! Meaning that the word of God is a weapon of warfare when used in faith that breaks to pieces the rock of sickness. The word of God is a weapon of warfare when used in faith that breaks to pieces the rock of poverty. Today God will send His word like a hammer into every situation in your life and every demonic rock, every witchcraft rock, every rock of opposition standing between you and your victory shall be broken now, in Jesus Name
- Prayer:
Ephesians 6:18: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” NKJV
-Prayer is our direct line of communication with God. Through prayer, we can seek His guidance, protection, and strength to overcome challenges and spiritual battles.
- Faith:
(Faith as a shield) Ephesians 6:16: “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” NKJV
-Faith is like a shield that protects us from the attacks of the enemy. It enables us to trust in God’s promises, believe in His power, and remain steadfast in the face of trials.
The breastplates protects the inner organs. Therefore the breastplate of faith protects what in the inside of me. Faith in God, faith in Jesus, faith in His word is a powerful protective force against the enemies lies and deception. Our faith in God and His word protects our mind and spirit from satanic harassment
(Faith as a weapon of victory against the enemy and the world) 1 John 5:4; “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” NKJV
-Our faith in God and His word can also be a spiritual weapon in the spirit realm to overcome the enemy and his devices
(Faith can move mountains). Mark 11:23; For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. NKJV
-Mountain mean anything waging war against your life and destiny. It could be sickness, it could be poverty, it could be dark spirits in heavenly realm. Bible says if you have faith in God and His word, you will tell sickness to leave your body and it will obey you. Bible says if you have faith in God and His word, you will command the dark spirits behind the problems in your life and family to depart in the name of Jesus and they will leave quickly
- The Blood of Jesus:
Revelation 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” NKJV
The blood of Jesus shed on the cross is a symbol of redemption, forgiveness, and victory over sin and death. It has the power to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and to overcome the enemy’s accusations. Additionally, the blood of Jesus is also a potent weapon of warfare we have available to utilise as believers
-The blood of Jesus as we note in Revelations 12:11 has potent power to overcome the enemy and his wicked schemes.
-The blood of Jesus as a weapon of warfare has the most powerful defensive and protective capacity against the enemy and His Schemes. (Read Exodus 12: 13&23; NKJV)
“13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt”
-When we use the blood of Jesus in faith, it protects us from any kind of plague that the enemy sends from affecting you
“23 For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.”
-When you use the blood of Jesus in faith over your life and family, God ensures that the destroyer (which represents the devil and his evil forces) will not be able to strike you and family. This is why I encourage you to always plead the blood of Jesus on yourself and family when you wake up in the morning before you and the family set out for the day. As when you are covered with the blood of Jesus in the spirit realm, the demons and the demonic arrows flying around cannot penetrate you.
Philippians 2:9-10: “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.” NKJV
Matthew 28:18; “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” NKJV
Jesus made this statement after His resurrection from the dead before His ascension into heaven. He declared to His disciples all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Him. And therefore all that authority and power has been invested in His name. so anytime you use the name of Jesus, understand that you are utilising a name that is backed with all the power& authority in the entire universe.
-The name of Jesus is powerful and authoritative. It represents His authority and victory over all spiritual forces. Through faith in His name, we can command demons to flee and receive deliverance and healing.
Proverbs 18:10; The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. NKJV
-In the name of Jesus, and through the name of Jesus we obtain victory, deliverance, safety, and protection from all forms of attacks of the enemy
Altar call: For anyone reading this article who is not saved and wants to be part of the family of God or you want to re-dedicate your life back to Jesus, please repeat this out loud. “Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I have sinned against you. Lord Jesus forgive me of my sins. I repent of my sins. Lord Jesus come into my life and be my Lord now and forever in Jesus Name“

- O God arise and scatter every assembly of wickedness fashioned against my life and family in Jesus Name
- Holy-Ghost fire crush the embargo of failure and shame engineered against my progress in life, in Jesus Name
- Blood of Jesus (2ce), destroy the destroyer that is stubbornly pursuing my life and star, in Jesus Name
