TEXT: JUDGES 4:4-5; 7-16

And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand. And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go. And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh. 10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him. 11 Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh. 12 And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor. 13 And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon. 14 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the Lord hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the Lord gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.15 And the Lord discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.16 But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.

Quote by Sarah Palin; I thought of a passage from the book of Jeremiah 29:11-13: “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord.” It irked me that too often women are made to feel guilty for seeking the next open door.

I am in complete accord with Sarah Palin, that as a woman and also someone who loves God, God wants me to express my potentials and be everything He has ordained me to be. This is His mindset for you and even though my target audience are the women in our world today who need to know that God wants them to arise and shine. Men who read this will benefit from some, if not all of the virtues of a heroine in the bible called Deborah

Who is Deborah?

Deborah played multiple key roles:

  1. At home – wife (legally married) A mother, respected and impeccable
  2. In her profession – She is a judge – God gave her the authority
  3. In God’s house – A Priestess
  4. In ministry – A prophet, pastor, worship leader
  5. She was a teacher of the WORD, obedient. She heard God’s voice and shared God’s Word with others.
  6. She was a patriot, strong, brave, wise
  7. A destiny helper,
  8. A ministerial helper to Barak. She empowered/ supported in fulfilling his destiny.

I decree in the name of Jesus to somebody here, in this country, go on and rule in Jesus mighty name!

As Christian women, we are not ‘just’ wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters. No. We are daughters of the King! We are His princesses. God chose us and has a purpose for each of us; at home, at work, in society, and in church. We should never let the fact that we are women let us think less of ourselves, even if others talk us down. We can rather look up to women like Deborah and receive inspiration to step into our God-given calling.

  1. It is time for women and men of God to rise up for their families/nations in prayer.
  2. Time to rise up and lead the battle for your families against the forces of darkness.

Women and men of God, it is your time and turn to possess the ‘spirit of Deborah’.

WHAT IS THE SPIRIT OF DEBORAH?

  1. It is the spirit of Divine boldness. She is fearless to face the battle – be fearless.
  2. The spirit of supernatural life
  3. The spirit of Divine authority – strength to serve God, nurture the children, to be a good wife/husband
  4. The spirit of Godly Attraction – the bible tells us that the Israelites came to her. She can accommodate people, she has the motherly spirit and the prophetic

I prophesy to you today “that prophetic ministry that the enemy has stolen from you receive it back! In Jesus Name

  • The spirit of Awakening – Awake, awake Deborah, it is high time that you awake as women in your community, nation, country.

HOW DO YOU CONNECT TO THE SPIRIT OF DEBORAH

  1. You must be born again.
  2. You must be patriotic, you must love others, family and love yourself. Most women hate themselves.

I pray for those under this category: “Let that spirit of hatred; not loving yourself be totally destroyed in the mighty name of Jesus Christ”

  • Be a leader and not a boss. You must awake to your responsibility. Deborah awaked to her responsibilities. You must possess a heart of a mother, a teacher, and a transformer.
  • You must Praise God always weather it is convenient or not. You must sing your song and dance your dance in the name of Jesus Christ
  • Know your place in Divine destiny. Deborah did. By all means, find your place! It is a risk to not find your place. Abstain from unreasonable distractions, relationships, or activities.
  • Be instructed by the Holy Spirit. Be led by the Holy Spirit. If Deborah did not have the spirit of God in her she would not have been able to make the impact in her generation (life and community)

Many Deborah’s are sleeping and it is now time to awake! Wake up yourself and reach for the stars! God will empower you in Jesus Name. Amen!

God bless you

Altar call for the unbeliever: For anyone reading this article who is not saved and wants to be part of the family of God, please repeat this out loud. Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I have sinned against you. Lord Jesus forgive me of my sins. I repent of my sins. Lord Jesus come into my life and be my Lord now and forever in Jesus Name

PRAYER POINTS

  1. (Put your name), Awake! Awake! to your divine position in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Wake up to your destiny, to your responsibility, to your calling
  2. Foundational powers, limiting my greatness, be destroyed in the name of Jesus Christ!

We shall all arise and shine into our divine destiny/responsibility/calling in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Amen.
