There is something called the “survival rule of 3” which basically says without air, a person can survive for only 3 minutes. Without water, a person can survive for 3 days. Without food, a person can survive for 3 weeks. But without God, we can’t survive at all for any margin of time. So this analysis of our state in Him, shows that we depend on Him totally. And being in Him means we have the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy-Spirit) not only saturating our existence with their presence in our lives for those that believe in Him but ensuring not just our survival in life but that we reign on His behalf and authority as “kings” on earth (Revelation 5:10)
- You are complete in Him
Colossians 2:10; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power (NKJV)
I am complete in Him means
-It means in Him (because of my union with Christ), I have everything I need to live a balanced and victorious Christian life. Whether spiritual, mental, material, or financial, in Him you have everything you need. It such a powerful promise we have in Him. It’s a reality that God wants you to operate in all the days of your life as you walk and stay in Him
-I am complete in Him is that I am attaining and will attain full spiritual stature in Christ. In Him, Christ Jesus wants you to be like Him (in speech, deeds, and operation of the supernatural), to be the “Jesus” the world see’s on earth and through you, many are drawn to His kingdom because you are like Him
-In my union with Christ (in Him), I have full Spiritual life. In fact the AMPC would say because you are in Him, you are filled with the God-Head (God), The Son & The Holy-Spirit. That you are in Him, you have the in-filling of the Trinity in you and hence you have a full spiritual life. I don’t know your story or what has happened in your life, but you are powerful, extraordinary, and very special because in Him, you carry the Trinity in you.
- In Him you are expected to walk like Him
1 John 2:6, He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. (NKJV)
If we say we abide in Him (referring to Jesus): which means we have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour or that we are in union with Jesus. It therefore means we have a moral obligation to live our lives the way Christ Jesus did. To behave like Him. To speak like Him. To also do the things He did. And not work in the ways of evil and perversion. Don’t be a believer that claims to be in Him, that works for Him (maybe as an usher in church for example) but you don’t walk like Him. Let it not be that the only day you walk like him is on Sunday or whenever you are in Church but on other days of the week you walk contrary to Him.
- In Him we should contend for purity by His word
1 John 3:2-3, 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (NKJV)
In the context of vs 2 of 1st John 3 talks of the fact that when Jesus is revealed, we will be like Him for We will see Him just as He is.
But we don’t have to wait for His coming before we see Him as believers. We can see Jesus through His word daily. Jesus is revealed to us through His word and therefore we can become like Him now through revelation by His word.
And this stems our hope in Him, that as His coming we will be like Him but even equally important that our hope in Him begins now, that as we are illuminated by His word, we become like Him now.
And so your hope in Him is two folds, that at His coming your body will be like Him because you will be able to see His beauty, His glory, His heavenly form
Then your second hope in Him is that as you diligently put His word into all aspects of your life, that the revelation of who Jesus is by His word will transform you from glory to glory becoming more and more like Him here on earth. That as you hope in Him through His word, His word which is Spirit & Life will keep purifying you till you become more and more like Him in purity (purity of thoughts, purity of actions and purity of speech)
- In Him alone do we have forgiveness of sins and eternal life in Heaven
Acts 10:43, “To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” (NKJV)
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (NKJV)
1) When we believe in Him, we have the remission (forgiveness) of our sins
2)When we believe in Him, we will not die but have everlasting life. Believing in Him exempts from the second death. Some people erroneously believe that when a man dies and is buried in the grave, that is the person’s final cycle of life! But real death is the 2nd death, where a man’s spirit is eternally separated from God in hell undergoing continuous suffering, pain, and distress. Believing in Jesus is the only way we can escape the second death. The religions of this world is estimated to be about 4,000 different types but the main ones such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism and so on. All these religions can never guarantee eternal life with God Almighty, only being in Jesus (accepting His as Lord of your life) will guarantee you eternal life in Heaven.
- If you are in Him, it means you abide in His Light and His Love
1 John 2:9-11, 9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. (NKJV)
If we live in the Light (in fellowship with Christ, in union with Christ, practicing the presence of Jesus), then;
1. We cannot hate our brother or sister. We will not be doing things against them or be working against them directly or covertly. We will not use them as “chess pieces” to fulfil our selfish agenda and motive.
2. We will love our brother or sister. Be selfless and sacrificial in our dealings with them. We show them empathy and sincerity. These are some of the building blocks to a strong, long-lasting relationship with people that is based on love (God’s-kind of Love, sometimes referred to as “Agape” which is the highest form of love)
3. When we abide in love, we show that we abide in the light and nothing causes us to stumble. Some other translation say we don’t cause others to stumble or sin, because we abide in Love and Light. Furthermore, if we abide in the light, offences will still come but we choose not to act on it but seek for peace, we seek for truth that is spoken and done in love. You cannot be claiming to be in His Light and not abide in Love. For these two powerful features of Almighty God go together. For where God’s light is, you must find His love and at the same time, anytime you see a place full of God’s love in display, it is evidence that His light (through His word) has illuminated that place.
- Being in Him (Jesus), makes you are a God carrier
1 John 4:15, Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. (NKJV)
1st John 4:15 in my mind is one of the most powerful benefits of being in Him, that as I have confessed Jesus as Lord, I have God in me. God is in union with me. And I too abide in God. Am in union with God. This fact is true for you reading this that believe in Him. You are a carrier of the Almighty God. You carry God wherever you go! It’s a powerful revelation which I pray you will grow into and begin to manifest it as a daily reality. I was watching this Chinese movie with my wife and there was this common palace maid who was very intelligent and so the emperor gave her the authority to investigate a delicate matter, therefore, to help her succeed in her task, he gave her his token, that whenever she displays it to people, they must treat her like the Emperor was there. And so she was requesting more information from this influential Eunuch in the palace who treated her with so much disdain and refused to cooperate until she brought out the token from her belt area. Immediately this man noted and saw that this simple palace maid had the Emperor’s token on her, he bowed down in respect to that token she was holding and from then on, anything the little maid wanted, this Eunuch had to comply. It was at this stage, My Comforter was telling me that, this is the practical reality of what happens to those believers who truly understand they “carry God” in them. The carry “Divine authority” in them. The world will never know you “carry God” in you until, you figuratively “bring Him out” (which can mean lift Him up in prayer, praise, faith, and holiness) for the world to see. You carry tremendous power, you carry healing, you carry deliverance because God is in you.
- In Him is linked to redemption, forgiveness of sins and justification by His blood
Ephesians 1:7; In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. NKJV
1. In Him (referring to Jesus our Lord & Saviour); we have redemption through His blood.
You have freedom through His blood. You have deliverance through His blood. You have Salvation through His blood. You have the assurance of eternal life with God through the sacrificial blood of Jesus. I prophesy over someone reading this article, that through His blood you are delivered from all forms of ungodly addictions in the name of Jesus. I prophesy over someone reading this article you are set free from every curse and covenant that has placed restrictions and barriers to your rising and shining in life, in Jesus Name. Receive your deliverance now by the wind of the Holy-Ghost in the name of Jesus
2. His blood that was shed for us also paid the penalty of our sins and so in Him & by His blood, our sins are forgiven. You see no matter how terrible your past is, no matter what you have done that the devil lies to you and says it can’t be forgiven, if you simply believe in the blood Jesus shed on the cross for you and accept Him as Lord in your life, all your sins are forgiven and justified by His blood. Justification simply means the blood that Jesus shed on the cross has paid the penalty for your sins. So, His Spirit that gives you assurance now lives in you, so you can walk in peace, and no longer be tormented by the guilt of sin. Someone shout hallelujah!
3. This is a work and manifestation of the riches of His grace. Please see our website on teachings on “ Benefits of His grace”(Benefits of God’s Grace – Feast of light). You see His grace is what makes His forgiveness possible. Without His grace there can be no forgiveness of sins. Also it is because of His grace that delivers us from the penalty of eternal death for our sins. The whole work of salvation is built on the unquantifiable manifestation of the riches of God’s grace. It’s also the riches of His grace that, He that is incorruptible will delight to dwell in corruptible vessels like us. We can only be in Him because of the manifold riches of God’s overflowing grace.
