Proverbs 6:32-33 (NKJV):
“Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does so destroys his own soul. Wounds and dishonor he will get, and his reproach will not be wiped away.”
Sexual immorality is one of the most dangerous and destructive sins mentioned in the Bible. It affects not only the body but also the soul and spirit. God’s Word repeatedly warns believers about its devastating consequences.

The Systems of Sexual Immorality
Sexual immorality is not limited to adultery and fornication. It includes:
- Pornography:
Jesus warned in Matthew 5:28 (NKJV):
“But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
Pornography plants lustful thoughts, leading to a corrupted heart and mind. - While exact numbers on pornography addiction in the UK are hard to pinpoint, studies suggest that 50% of men and 16% of women in the UK watch pornography. Porn addiction is often linked to compulsive behaviour, where individuals feel unable to control their consumption despite negative consequences
- Lustfulness:
- Looking at a man or woman with lustful intent goes against God’s Word. Many men may struggle with mentally undressing women, and many women may likewise do the same with men, believing it is harmless since these thoughts remain private. However, Jesus teaches otherwise, making it clear that such lustful thoughts are equivalent to committing the physical act itself
- Lust leads to discontentment and a restless soul. It causes people to objectify others instead of honouring them as God’s creation.
- Fornication (sex outside of marriage):
1 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV):
“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”
Sex outside marriage violates God’s design and invites spiritual damage. - Masturbation:
- If I offend you reading this article, please forgive me. But I am compelled to say the truth as God’s minister on earth. Sadly, our society and the world of medicine has normalised masturbation. They say it ok as it relieves stress from a medical point of view! And that moderation is key as excessive or compulsive behaviour may lead to emotional or physical concerns.
- Let me clear you cannot moderate sin! It will always lead to death (Romans 6:23; “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”)
- While the word, masturbation is not directly mentioned in Scripture, masturbation is fuelled by lustful thoughts, which Jesus equates to adultery of the heart (Matthew 5:28).
The Dangers and Costs of Sexual Immorality
- Spiritual Defilement:
Sexual sin opens doors to demonic oppression. It creates unholy soul ties and gives the enemy legal ground to operate in one’s life.
Ephesians 4:27 (NKJV):
“Nor give place to the devil.” - Bondage and Addiction:
Many become enslaved to sexual sins, such as pornography or fornication. These addictions weaken spiritual life and harden the heart to God’s voice. - Destruction of the Soul:
The Bible says sexual sin “destroys his own soul” (Proverbs 6:32). This means damaging one’s emotions, will, and ability to make sound decisions. - Physical Consequences:
Sexual immorality can lead to sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, and broken relationships.
Romans 1:24 (NKJV):
“Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves.” - Loss of Spiritual Authority:
Samson lost his divine strength and ability because of sexual sin with Delilah (Judges 16:19-21). His disobedience led to captivity and blindness, showing how sin can strip a believer of power and purpose. - Ungodly Soul Ties:
Sexual relations outside of marriage create spiritual bonds (soul ties) with the other person.
1 Corinthians 6:16 (NKJV):
“Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For ‘the two,’ He says, ‘shall become one flesh.’”
Through these soul ties, any spiritual baggage (curses, addictions, demonic oppression) from the other person can transfer to you.

Biblical Examples of Sexual Sin and its Consequences
- David and Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11):
David’s adultery with Bathsheba led to the death of Uriah, a murdered conscience, the death of the child born from the affair, and trouble within David’s family. - The Fall of Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-11):
Solomon’s lust for foreign women led him into idolatry and ultimately caused the division of Israel. - The People of Israel at Peor (Numbers 25:1-9):
The Israelites’ immorality with Moabite women and idol worship led to a deadly plague where 24,000 people died.
Why You Must Remove the Throne of Sexual Sin
- Sexual sin becomes a throne in the life of a person where demonic spirits reign and oppress.
- These sins invite other spirits such as spirits of lust, sickness, failure, shame, perversion, and bondage to bring oppression to the person.
- Until you renounce and break these chains through repentance, prayer, and scripture-based deliverance, full spiritual freedom will be difficult.
The Call to Purity
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 (NKJV):
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.”
Freedom Through Christ
- Repentance:
Confess and turn away from sexual sin.
1 John 1:9 (NKJV):
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - Renewing the Mind:
Feed on God’s Word and resist lustful thoughts. Let God’s word be the template for your deliverance from the oppression of sexual immorality. Read and meditate on God’s word daily. Confess God’s word in faith to enforce the victory you already have in Christ Jesus.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV):
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” - Deliverance and Healing:
Seek spiritual deliverance where needed. If necessary, seek a godly pastor who can guide you by God’s word on how to break free from the bondage of sexual sins. Furthermore, you must break soul ties with previous sexual partners through prayer and fasting.
Final Remark
2 Timothy 2:22 (NKJV):
“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
God calls us to walk in purity and to break down the throne of sexual immorality in our lives. Flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness with all your heart and strength. You cannot do this by your own power, therefore daily seek the help of the Holy Spirit.
God bless you, in Jesus Name. Amen
