SCRIPTURE: Revelations 4:1 – “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”
Come up higher could be either of two things, it could be:
- An invitation. like Jesus said come ye to me all ye that laboured and are heavily laden. And I will give you rest, or it could be
- A command. Come up higher, just like God said let there be light and there was light, he went further to say that the one who is going to ask you to come up higher, must be somewhere at least higher than you.
Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church and the Church is called the Body of Christ which is made up of you and I. Jesus Christ is our Head and we are His Body. The Head cannot perform what the hands or legs is meant to do as such Jesus cannot do what we are meant to do. He needs us to perform our duties so that the divine mandate given to us is accomplished. According to
Revelations 4:1 – “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”
Psalm 24: 3-5 – “3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”
God is the one who is calling us to come higher.
Psalm 107:20 – “20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
No man is an island; there is no one that does not need God’s intervention in their lives. If there is, that means that person does not have a goal in life.
God is calling you to come up higher from ever form of:
- Sin
- Unrighteousness,
- Fear that limits a person,
- The position of compromise,
- The position of immorality,
- Envy,
- Gossiping,
- Laziness to studying God’s Words,
- Prayerlessness,
- Evil competition,
God is the one calling us to:
- Holiness and Righteousness
- Come out of fear – this is another area that can limit one from coming up higher in the things of God / experiencing the mysteries of God’s kingdom. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of love and sound mind. Fear cripples. Guard your heart against this. Be bold, be courageous and take steps of faith into what God has ordained for your life
- Waiting on Him – Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
- Come up higher in Prayers and fasting – Prayer is needed and it is one way for God to be able to intervene in our situation.
- It is good for us to pray but praying in ignorance is the same as not praying.
- A prayerless believer is a proud person that thinks he can attain greater heights unassisted by God.
- Remember God hates a proud look. Have a systemic consistent prayer life.
- Live by His Words; study of His Words, listen to hear His Words, Romans 10:17 – “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” and, declaring God’s Words- confession of faith Isaiah 2:5 – “O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD” – This is where understanding comes in. 100 people can shout AMEN and only 2 people will have the word AMEN manifest in their lives. Mastery happens in the realm of understanding.
- Having Divine encounters with Him, – contend for genuine spiritual empowerment Luke 1:34-35 – Why?
- to fulfil our God given destiny/assignment, to advance the kingdom of God and to see the Glory of God revealed in our lives.
- The bible is clear as to the fact that there are wicked demonic forces upon the earth that are determined to thwart the purposes of God in our lives. Make no mistake about it demons are real. The whole world lieth in wickedness. Wickedness is everywhere. Because Moses was born a lot of innocent children were killed. Because Jesus was born a lot of innocent children were also killed. If the devil cannot spare babies how much more adults and Christians – Psalm 66:3 – “say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee”
There are 2 ways to receive genuine empowerment
- Directly from God through encounters Acts 10:38
- Impartation from genuine carriers – (Speed) the unit of destiny is time. Honour – to be perceived in the heart of men to march your true worth- your name has to be great – Jesus has given us His name that is above every other name – is your name a padlock or a key?
- Giving- This is another way of coming up higher. Giving moves you into a new dimension. No wonder scripture says you are more blessed when you give than when you receive (Acts 20:35). To be blessed can mean to come up higher into a new or greater realm of blessing, favour and spiritual experience and knowledge with God. Therefore if you put this fact into Acts 20:35, it would read something like this; “you come up higher more when you give than when you receive”,
Abraham had a prophetic word from God in Gen 12:1-9; God promised to make Abraham a blessed nation. It was a call by God, to move Abraham to higher realm of wealth, power, and influence. Abraham did not “come up higher” to that realm of blessing until Gen 22:1-18, after God commanded him to give Issac on the altar. Now your “Isaac” does not necessarily have to be money, God could demand you give Him your time or talent as your “Issac”. They key point is this; when you obey and give God your Isaac that He demands from you, you will certainly come up higher into realms of glory that He has ordained for you.

- Father, I desire to live a holy and righteous life – free from all forms of sin and compromise, please help me in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
- In the name of Jesus Christ, I decree and declare that an end has come to the operations of every spirit of prayerlessness and fear in my life now! I am bold, I am strong, I am the righteousness of God in Jesus mighty name.
- I decree and declare that as from today, my Word study life and the confession of faith will never drop instead it will rise higher and higher in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
