In the church we are seeing many goldy parents with children who have poor manners and disrespectful behaviours and this should not be so. Our children are the godly seed that God will use to transform the world for Christ Jesus. Therefore, if we fail to instil in them godly manners, we will be failing in our duties as custodians of these gifts that God has given us. Let us consider some societal and bible perspective on why we must train our children to have godly manners

Societal Importance:

Harmonious Relationships: Good manners foster positive interactions among people. When children learn to be polite, considerate, and respectful, they contribute to a more harmonious society. Respectful behaviour helps prevent conflicts and promotes cooperation.

Social Integration: Well-mannered children are more likely to be accepted and welcomed by others. They build stronger friendships, create better professional networks in their adult years, and participate actively in community life.

Professional Success: In the professional world, good manners are essential. Employers value employees who communicate courteously, listen actively, and treat colleagues with respect. These skills enhance career prospects and workplace dynamics. Therefore as Christian parents teaching your children to be well mannered is a seed you are sowing into their lives for professional success in the future

Biblical Perspective:

Golden Rule: The Bible emphasizes the Golden Rule in Matthew 7:12: “Do to others what you would have them do to you.” Teaching children good manners aligns with this principle. By treating others kindly, children reflect God’s love and grace.

Christ’s Example: Jesus exemplified humility and service when He washed the disciples’ feet (John 13:3-5). Despite being Christ the King, He humbled Himself to serve others. Teaching children to serve and consider others echoes Christ’s example.

Proverbs 22:6: The Bible instructs parents to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This guidance emphasizes the importance of early teaching and modeling good behavior.

Fruits of the Spirit: Galatians 5:22 lists the fruits of the Spirit, including love, joy, peace, kindness, and self-control. Teaching manners contributes to these qualities, shaping a child’s character.

Self-Confidence: Instilling good manners builds a child’s self-confidence. When they understand their worth as creations made in God’s image, they can confidently engage with others, share their faith, and make friends.

Remember, teaching children manners goes beyond mere etiquette; it’s about teaching them to consider others before themselves, reflecting God’s love, and fostering a kinder, more compassionate world. God bless you

Altar call: For anyone reading this article who is not saved and wants to be part of the family of God or you want to re-dedicate your life back to Jesus, please repeat this out loud. “Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I have sinned against you. Lord Jesus forgive me of my sins. I repent of my sins. Lord Jesus come into my life and be my Lord now and forever in Jesus Name
