Proverbs 28:1b; “but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” (CSB)

The message of Jesus as King is central to the Christian faith, and it encourages believers to be bold, unashamed, and fearless in their witness for Christ. The Bible provides numerous passages that highlight this truth, urging us to stand firm in our faith, share the gospel with others, and trust in God’s power and protection.

  1. God has not given you the spirit of fear

2 Timothy 1:7-11

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.”

In this passage, Paul reminds Timothy—and all believers—that God has not given us a spirit of fear or timidity. Instead, He has given us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Because of this, we should not be ashamed of the gospel or afraid of the challenges that may come our way when we stand for Christ. Jesus, our King, has abolished death and brought eternal life through the gospel. This truth gives us the confidence to boldly share our faith without fear.

2.  Facing hardships and difficulties in life with strength in Christ

2 Timothy 2:1-3 (NKJV)

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”

Paul encourages Timothy to be strong in the grace that is found in Christ Jesus. As followers of Christ, we are called to endure hardships and challenges as “good soldiers” of Jesus. This strength comes from understanding that Jesus is King and that He has empowered us to fulfil His mission regardless of the challenges that come our way. He still promises to deliver us from all difficulties we face (Psalms 34:17). We are to pass on these teachings of Christ to other believers who in their walk with God may be facing all kinds of pressures in life, and so equipping them to do the same by standing strong in Christ, thus expanding God’s kingdom.

3. You are called to bear much fruit

John 15:8 (NKJV)

“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”

Jesus teaches that bearing fruit—living a life that reflects His teachings and leading others to Him—glorifies God. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to bear much fruit, which includes having results in life that testify of His goodness and power in your life. But even more significantly, Jesus wants you to bear fruits of winning souls for His kingdom by sharing the gospel with others and living in a way that honours Him. Knowing that Jesus is King gives us the courage to live boldly for Him, knowing that our efforts will bring glory to God.

4.  There is a relationship between winning souls for God and accessing wisdom from heaven

Proverbs 11:30-31 (NKJV)

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. If the righteous will be recompensed on the earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner.”

This proverb highlights the link between wisdom and the value in winning souls for Christ. The “fruit of the righteous” represents the life-giving impact that a believer can have on others. Winning souls is not only wise but is also a way to bring life to those around us. The assurance of God’s reward for the righteous who obey the “Great Commission” to make disciples of all men, should motivate us to share the gospel boldly.

5. You are called to transform the world through His gospel message

Isaiah 27:6 (NKJV)

“Those who come He shall cause to take root in Jacob; Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.”

This prophecy speaks of the future flourishing of God’s people. As believers in Christ, we are grafted into the promises given to Israel. Our mission is to “fill the face of the world with fruit,” meaning we are to spread the gospel and see the world transformed by the power of God. With Jesus as our King, we have the assurance that our efforts will bear fruit for His kingdom.

6.  The gospel message you share to the world is effective and powerful

Isaiah 55:10-13 (NKJV)

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

This passage reassures us that God’s Word is powerful and effective. When we share the gospel, it will accomplish what God intends and will not return void. As we boldly proclaim the message of Christ, we can trust that God will bring about salvation, healing, deliverance, victory transformation and joy. The imagery of the earth flourishing and the mountains singing reflects the joy and peace that come from knowing and sharing Jesus.

Conclusion

Jesus is King, and because of His sovereignty and power, we have no reason to be ashamed of the gospel or to fear anyone. The Bible teaches us to be bold, to endure hardship, and to spread the message of Christ with confidence. As we do, we bear fruit that glorifies God, win souls for His kingdom, and fulfil our calling as His disciples. With the assurance that God’s Word will always accomplish His purpose, we can go forth with joy and peace, knowing that our King is with us every step of the way.
