New beginnings begin when you hate the things God hates and love the things God loves.

Before God opens doors of new beginnings, He strengthens the person who will walk through them. Before God releases answers to your prayers for new beginnings, He prepares the vessel that will carry them.

One of the things God does through His Spirit in the life of a believer is produce inner transformation. He empowers you to hate the things He hates and love the things He loves. In other words, inner transformation often begins before the outward manifestation of new beginnings.

God is not only interested in changing your circumstances. He is also interested in changing your heart. Sometimes we focus so much on asking God for a new beginning in life, destiny, ministry, marriage, or career, but God first begins the work within us. He prepares our character before He entrusts us with greater things.

Proverbs 6:16-19 says, “These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him.” NKJV

This passage lists:

  • A proud look
  • A lying tongue
  • Hands that shed innocent blood
  • A heart that devises wicked plans
  • Feet that are swift in running to evil
  • A false witness who speaks lies
  • One who sows discord among brethren

Proverbs 6:16-19 gives one of the clearest descriptions in Scripture of attitudes and behaviours that displease God. Many other sins mentioned throughout the Bible flow from these same roots.

For example, we know adultery displeases God. Yet adultery is often sustained through lying, deception, and wicked intentions. A husband involved in an affair may lie to his wife and say he is working a night shift, while secretly pursuing a relationship that will eventually destroy his family and destiny.

Dear friend, you cannot desire a divine new beginning while continuing to embrace the very things God hates. Even harbouring one of these things in the heart can hinder spiritual growth and fellowship with God.

Psalm 97:10 says, “You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.” NKJV

This verse teaches us that loving God also means rejecting evil. It does not mean hating people. It means refusing to participate in what opposes God’s nature and truth, no matter how attractive or beneficial it may appear temporarily.

God promises preservation and deliverance to those who walk in reverence toward Him. When God sees a heart that refuses compromise and chooses righteousness despite the pressure and threat of rejection or isolation from society or culture, He is able to usher that person into glorious new beginnings.

Pray the prayer-points below with conviction in your heart:

  • Father any corrupt or perverse way in my heart, any disobedient way in my heart, remove from my heart, today, in Jesus Name
  • Where I am not fully submitted to You in my heart, forgive me Lord, and I say, “come and be Lord of all my heart and life,” in Jesus Name

If you want God to give you a glorious new beginning in life and destiny, you must also love what He loves.

Psalm 11:7 says, “For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.” NKJV

God loves righteousness. Therefore, as His people through Christ Jesus, we also should love righteousness. God desires that we walk in truth, integrity, holiness, mercy, and obedience.

This does not mean we earn salvation through works. Scripture is clear that we are saved by grace through faith. However, righteous living becomes the fruit and evidence of a heart that truly loves God.

You cannot continually live in deliberate rebellion against God’s ways while expecting Him to establish glorious new beginnings in your life.

You deliberately cheat. You deliberately defraud. You deliberately sleep around. You deliberately consume pornography. Yet you are asking God for a divine new beginning.

Romans 12:9 says, “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.” NKJV

Apostle Paul teaches believers to cling to what is good.

The word cling means to hold on tightly. It carries the idea of refusing to let go. It is like when I used to hold my children’s hands tightly while crossing the road when they were little. Sometimes they would try to pull away, but my grip remained firm because I wanted to protect them. That is how God wants us to hold firmly to His Word and His will. Because it is His Word that protects and preserves us. It is His Word that opens up glorious new beginnings in our lives

God wants us to remain firmly connected to holiness and truth regardless of the distractions and temptations around us. Holiness before God, empowers us to eat the fruit (good) of the land (Isaiah 1:19).

The word cling also means to stick firmly or bond closely together, like glue attaching itself to something permanently. Paul is saying believers should become deeply united with what is good. God desires for His people to become so connected to His Word and ways that their lives reflect His nature to the world.

When people look at your life, they should see the evidence of God’s truth working within you.

Micah 6:8 says, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” NKJV

Micah 6:8 is one of those powerful instructional verses that clearly shows what God desires from those who belong to Him.

To do justly means to live rightly and fairly before God and people. A lifestyle of integrity positions a believer for divine new beginnings. To do justly also implies right alignment with God.

To love mercy means to be compassionate, forgiving, and kind. It means showing grace to people in pain or need. It means forgiving those who have hurt you deeply, not because you approve of their actions, but because your heart has been shaped by God’s mercy. God honours hearts that reflect His compassion.

To walk humbly with your God means living in surrender and dependence upon Him. It also means carrying humility in your interactions with others because you reverence God.

James teaches that God gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Included within that grace is the grace for new beginnings. Those who humble themselves before God position themselves to receive fresh seasons, divine opportunities, and renewed direction from Him.

Summary

New beginnings do not start with outward change. They begin when the heart aligns with God’s nature. God renews the inner life before opening glorious external doors. He teaches His people to hate what He hates and love what He loves, because character must be prepared before destiny can be entrusted. Proverbs 6:16‑19 reveals attitudes that hinder divine progress, while Psalm 97:10 and Micah 6:8 show the kind of life God honours. When a believer chooses righteousness over compromise, clings to truth, walks humbly, and rejects evil, God preserves, delivers, and ushers them into glorious new beginnings that no opposition can stop.
