Why a Wife’s Influence Matters

A wife’s influence on her husband is more than just emotional or relational—it is spiritual. God designed marriage to be a partnership in which both husband and wife help each other grow in their relationship with Him. A wife’s role as an influencer is part of God’s plan to refine her husband and bring His purposes to fulfilment in their lives.

  • Building His Faith: Just as Manoah’s wife helped strengthen her husband’s faith, a wife can inspire her husband to trust God more deeply.
  • Supporting His Destiny: A godly wife helps her husband align his decisions and actions with God’s purpose, much like Sarah supported Abraham’s calling.
  • Creating a Legacy of Righteousness: Through her influence, a wife helps shape her family’s spiritual legacy, ensuring that future generations know and follow God.

A Call to Action for Wives

1. Pray Daily for Wisdom and Discernment
Prayer is the foundation for influencing your husband positively. By seeking God’s guidance, you align your thoughts and actions with His will.

  • James 1:5 (NKJV): “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
  • Philippians 4:6 (NKJV): “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

2. Rely on the Holy Spirit for Guidance
The Holy Spirit empowers wives to be gentle, wise, and discerning in their role as influencers.

  • John 14:26 (NKJV): “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
  • Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV): “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

3. Encourage Your Husband to Walk in the Ways of the Lord
Through your words and actions, you can motivate your husband to grow spiritually.

  • Hebrews 10:24 (NKJV): “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”
  • Proverbs 31:26 (NKJV): “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.”

4. Live Out Your Influence Through Conduct, Faith, and Submission
Your influence is not only in what you say but also in how you live. A godly example displayed by your life-style can inspire your husband to seek God.

  • 1 Peter 3:1-2 (NKJV): “Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.”
  • Titus 2:5 (NKJV): “…to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.”

5. Depend on God’s Strength to Fulfil Your Role
God equips you for the work He calls you to do, including being a godly influence in your marriage.

  • Philippians 4:13 (NKJV): “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
  • Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV): “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
